Congress acquired a 99 year ground lease for approximately 40,000 sf of land in the central business district of Providence, RI. The property was situated within an urban renewal district with close proximity to public transportation, government facilities, shopping and freeway access. Congress recognized the value of building an office building on this site. The project, known as Gateway Center, included a 200,000 square foot office building with a 150 car garage. The development was completed in 1990 and was an integral part of Providence’s successful Capital Center urban renewal project.
